Making the Cut. Face Shapes and Hairstyles.

What’s the best short hairstyle for your face shape?

Before cutting your locks, estimate your “short” options. “You have to think about the jawline, the face shape, the length of the neck — all of those things contribute to how short or long you can go with the bob,” said celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson, who snipped Anne Hathaway’s above-the-shoulder do. “Even though everyone is wearing shorter hair, it’s important to not be a slave to the trend.”

Gibson’s fail-safe tips? Those with fuller faces should avoid taking it too short: “You wouldn’t want the haircut to be at the jawline because it’s going to accentuate that,” he said. “If it’s a little longer, it’s slimming and more angular on the face and neck.” The perfect candidate for a pixie do or cropped bob, said Gibson, is someone who is thinner through the cheeks and with a smaller head. Regardless of how much you elect to cut, Gibson ranks the severity of the cut as the top consideration: “It should definitely have softness to it.”

Long, sleek hairstyles

Long and smooth hairstyles will always look good, no matter what year it is.

Example hairstyle below shows us how shiny long locks can turn a drab look into fantastic.

Mischa Barton turned heads with this sleek, smooth hairstyle. She looked so classy with a sleek and smooth style. A chic finish was achieved by texturing her ends—an effect that worked superbly with the feeling of lightness created by medium to long layers.

How to Style:Apply mousse to damp hair then blow-dry using a medium vent brush, turning your hair under as you go along. Smooth shine the top layers and then lacquer lightly for hold.

Michael Castro

Jason Castros' lil bro - Michael Castro audition in Kansas City for American Idol 8. First thing you'll notice is his mohawk hairstyle. Some parts of his hair is colored pink and it really looks nice on him. And he also got that very cute smile. I would really like to see more of him in Hollywood.

HAIRSTYLES FOR OVAL FACE SHAPES

Oval faces are the most many-sided faces. Many different styles will become you well, but no matter the length of your cut, you will look best with layers near your cheekbones, lips or chin - basically whatever feature you want to highlight. The perfect haircuts for oval face shapes are the cuts that show off the cheekbones and chin. The spike effect is downplayed, too much spike is NOT good on an oval face shape. It gives the illusion of length.

If you have wavy hair and an oval face, this long, wavy hairstyle is for you. It's not too long, which is bad for oval faces, but it's the perfect mix of wavy & long.

Celebrities that have OVAL FACE SHAPES

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow. Here, you see how hair that's just too long not only overwhelms an otherwise pretty face, but drags it down. While there are few hard and fast rules in beauty, we think few women can get away with hair this long. While dark roots were trendy for like five seconds last year, they never looked nice.

Jennifer Aniston.
An A-lister star all the way, Jennifer Aniston, also known as Brad Pitt’s ex-wife, is a blonde beauty who has the girl next door look and is equally at ease falling into the femme fatale mode, if a role demands it.

Cameron Diaz. Cameron lookes amazing promoting her movie, "In Her Shoes" with this simple yet stylish hairdo.

THE MOST FASHIONABLE HAIRSTYLE OF THE WINTER -2008-2009. PONYTAILS and lBACKCOMBING.

Backcombing is extremely popular trend this season. Ponytail is the second fashionable trend. Now if you mix up these two trends you will get the perfect hairdo.

How to make a fashionable ponytail.
- Gather your hair in your left hand (the one you don't write with; if your dominant hand is left, then reverse the instructions that follow using your right hand). Whether you use a hairbrush or just both of your hands to gather the hair is up to you. Hold it at the base (close to the scalp) in the position you are going to want it to be fastened. If you want a high ponytail, some people prefer to bend over and let their hair hang down when gathering their hair.

- Use a hairbrush to smooth it from your hairline to the base of the ponytail until it looks neat. It may help to sprinkle the brush with water or spritz it with hairspray. This step is not necessary, especially if you are in a hurry, or you are deliberately going for the messy look.

- On the right hand, stretch the hair tie/band over three of your fingers: thumb, index, and middle.

- Grab the ponytail with those three fingers and let go of it with the left hand.
- Hook your left index finger over the band (where it stretches between your index finger and thumb) and pull it over the ponytail. Keep the band stretched and simultaneously pull the rest of the ponytail through the band with your right hand.

- Twist the hair band with your left hand, fit three fingers through the loop you just made, and repeat the previous two steps (pull the band over the ponytail with the index finger of the opposite hand, then pull the rest of the ponytail through).
- Continue until there is no remaining part of the band that is wrapped around the ponytail.
- Experiment with different styles.

Emo and Scene Kids Part II

emo scene hair

YES, the major difference between emos and scenesters are their attitude. But I don't believe all 'scene kids' have an original personality, as you say 'dont follow the personality'. Yea, they dont follow the emo personality. But they still have one they mostly all have.. they think highly of themselves.

Another difference is, emos are generally natured to black. Scene kids love colors. Rainbows, neon colors..anything and everything!(Although I see emos starting to like rainbows now..xD)

Another thing is the 'obsessions'. Emos love, mostly Jack Skellington, and such things as that. While Scene kids are more into the look of say, Sanrio characters, like Hello Kitty. And also, Gloomy Bear is a big thing for them.

While emos and scenes are close to each other, I think the difference is more than what it seems. It isnt just the personality, but the style too. The common thing shared among them is probably the hair. But scene hair is most definately BIGGER.xD

You should be able to tell the difference, on the spot, from an emo or a scene kid. Guys are harder to distinguish than girls most of the time. But see a guy with a lot of confidence and he seems like hed have a big mouth on him, wearing bright colors, and big sun glasses..I think its safe to assume hes 'scene'. While a guy wearing mostly black, quiet in the corner, walking slowly..well, thats emo. But even if an emo doesnt follow the personality, you can still tell them apart by the overall style.
